▼What do Italians say with their hands that they...
What do Italians say with their hands that they don’t say with words? Which Italian food rules would you happily break? And how much of what we think we know about Italy comes from movies, menus and stereotypes? Join Lara live from Verona, the city where Shakespeare set Romeo and Juliet, for a lively discussion about ten weird and wonderful things about Italy. Born and raised in Italy, Lara has lived around the world and speaks six languages. She’ll share stories and surprising details about how people talk, eat, live and work, along with a look at the country’s history and fashion culture.
For each of Lara’s ten picks, we’ll compare first impressions, ask where these habits come from and see which stereotypes hold up. Is something an Italian tradition, a local custom or just how one family does things? What do Italians find perfectly ordinary that might surprise the rest of us? And what would they find strange about our own habits? No knowledge of Italy or Italian is needed. Come ready to laugh, ask questions and see how much a gesture, a meal or an outfit can tell us about the people behind it.
