What happens when authority stops protecting people and starts controlling them?
When does rebellion become necessary? And when does it become dangerous? In this Read & Talk club, we’ll read and discuss carefully chosen excerpts from the classic book, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and use them as a starting point to explore power, conformity, resistance, and what it really means to be “normal.”
Seven days ago, we held a Watch & Talk session using scenes from the film adaptation — but this club stands completely on its own. Whether you joined that session or not, whether you’ve read the book, seen the movie, or know nothing about either, you’re absolutely welcome. We’ll read together, unpack the ideas together, and use the text to spark a smart, open, and often surprisingly fun discussion about authority and rebellion, in fiction, and in our own lives today.
