No artistic talent is necessary for this workshop. You'll learn drawing techniques from a trained professional animator, you'll use them, you'll create, and it will be awesome!
What if a dumpling had a personality? What if a strawberry could be a hero, a croissant a villain, or a bowl of noodles the star of an animated film? Food characters appear everywhere in animation, games, advertising, and film because they're instantly relatable, visually appealing, and surprisingly expressive. Better yet, learning how to create them is not only fun, it develops a real creative skill used by professional artists and animators across the entertainment industry.
In this hands-on workshop, professional animator and artist Anastasiia will introduce the fundamentals of drawing both food and characters, then show you how to combine the two into charming and imaginative creations of your own. Using real food as reference models and exploring memorable examples from films such as Bao and other animated works, you'll learn the principles that make food characters feel alive, expressive, and believable. Once you've mastered the basics, the possibilities become almost limitless. No drawing experience or artistic talent is required—just curiosity, a willingness to experiment, and an appetite for creativity. By the end, you'll have a new way of seeing the world around you and the skills to turn almost anything on your plate into a character with a story to tell.
