Everybody knows about the one-child policy and it’s lead us to a unique position, or has it? With a huge aging population and a shrinking minority of young people, what does this mean for the future? In terms of the economy, society and the world?_x000D_ _x000D_ The truth that China isn’t alone here, birth rates are declining in most developed countries but as always, China is unique. How do those other countries compare? What do regular people have to say in China when approached with the question of one child? Two or three? Or zero?_x000D_ _x000D_ In the UK and most of the west, it’s quite common to have two or three siblings, here it obviously isn’t. How has that affected us? But also in the UK our grandparents often had eight or nine siblings, our parents had three or four and we had one or two. So where all we all going here? And are we really so different?_x000D_ _x000D_ In this club, we’ll look at objective, science-based statistics on the demographics of China in the recent past, present and future. Let’s have a history and a social talk about the impact and options of the country’s dramatic changes in demographic opinions.
