When you introduce yourself, do people meet a person... or hear a résumé? What makes them want to keep listening, and remember you afterwards? Join Violetta, a TEDx public speaking coach who also coaches high-level executives, for a hands-on workshop on making your first words count. We’ll explore why speakers so often waste their most valuable moment—the opening—and discover three ways to draw people in: the hook, the human moment and the bold claim. Whether you’re introducing yourself or an idea, you’ll learn how to give your audience a reason to care before you’ve made your first main point.
Together, we’ll craft and practise delivering our own memorable opening lines, exploring how a thoughtful choice of words and delivery can turn a routine introduction into a connection. With Violetta’s guidance, you’ll try the three structures, discover what suits your personality, and refine an opening that feels natural to you. No public speaking experience is necessary: there’s room to experiment, learn and try again. You’ll leave with a practical formula you can use in presentations, meetings and everyday conversations—and more confidence in giving people something to remember.
