What really is critical thinking? And how can you use it in everyday life? In this workshop, we'll break it down into a methodology and test it first-hand!
How do you know when something is actually true? Why do smart people so often reach completely different conclusions from the exact same information? And in a world shaped by AI, social media, advertising and endless headlines, how can you tell the difference between good reasoning and convincing nonsense? In this highly interactive workshop, Ben, an advertising creative and filmmaker who understands how ideas influence people, will guide you through the real practice of critical thinking. Using examples drawn from AI, social media and everyday life, you'll examine real messages, ask better questions, uncover hidden assumptions and discover how easily our minds can be led in the wrong direction.
This won't be a lecture about logical fallacies. It will be an experience. Through thought experiments, group challenges and hands-on activities, you'll make predictions, test your assumptions, discover where your reasoning holds up, and where it doesn't. You'll see first-hand why so many people confidently arrive at the wrong conclusions, and learn practical ways to think more clearly, question more effectively and evaluate ideas with greater confidence. Ben will be a patient guide throughout, making this welcoming for everyone, regardless of experience. Whether you're interested in psychology, business, philosophy or simply making better decisions, you'll leave with a sharper mind, new ways of seeing the world, and thinking tools that could change how you approach almost everything.
