In the Eloquent English series, we learn about, discuss, and practice ways to play with the English language. By doing this we get a better understanding of culture, wordplay, and the ability to sound cool when you talk, all while having an awesome time!_x000D_ _x000D_ Let's not wait until the eleventh hour or, even worse, until we're six feet under to learn cool stuff that will make your friends green with envy at how eloquent you sound when you talk! Are you familiar with the idioms in that last sentence? If you haven't heard them before, can you figure out what they mean? In English, we have so many idioms related to colours and numbers, how about in Chinese? Do both cultures view different colours and parts of numbers in the same way? What can we learn about the cultures by understanding their idioms?_x000D_ _x000D_ Idioms are phrases which colourfully illustrate an idea. Sometimes their meaning can be inferred easily, other times they're a bit harder to get. The English language is full of them and, with practice, you can even create your own! In this club, we'll concentrate on idioms that use colours and numbers inside of them.
