▼What if the best way to network was to stop try...
What if the best way to network was to stop trying to “network”? We’ve all seen the standard techniques: work the room, perfect your elevator pitch, collect contacts, follow up with the right message and somehow turn strangers into “valuable connections.” But when everyone knows the strategy, it can feel artificial—and often produces relationships that disappear as quickly as they were created. So what does natural networking look like instead? How do you make people genuinely interested in knowing you, create value without obviously trying to get something back, and build relationships that feel authentic while still opening real professional and personal opportunities?
In this interactive discussion and workshop, we’ll compare conventional networking tactics with approaches based on curiosity, generosity, personality and genuine human connection. More importantly, you’ll discover how to network in a way that fits your natural style—whether you’re outgoing, quiet, funny, thoughtful, knowledgeable, shy or simply someone who hates walking up to strangers and selling yourself. You’ll learn practical techniques for starting conversations, becoming memorable, finding meaningful reasons to reconnect and turning brief encounters into real relationships, then practice them together and discuss what actually works. Expect useful tools, experiments, plenty of interaction and a different way of thinking about networking: not as collecting people who might someday help you, but as becoming someone worth knowing.
