The Chinese translation of hipster is 文艺青年 but that doesn’t quite cover it. The academic description includes “nonconformist”, “progressive”, “counter-culture”, “promoter of social change” and “intelligent conversationalist” but the cultural definition is someone that tries hard to be different by rejecting everything that is popular or mainstream. The ironic part is that so many people are hipsters that it has become mainstream. Also, hipsters love coffee, not Starbucks, they wouldn’t be caught dead in Starbucks or would they?_x000D_ 本次club的主题是咖啡拉花与Hipster咖啡文化。Hipster(嬉皮士)没有对应的中文翻译，但其意思与“文艺青年”接近。字典中对其解释包括“我行我素的”、“先进的”、“反传统文化”、“社会变革推动者”、“聪明又健谈的人”。Hipster的文化定位是： 拒绝接受流行文化或主流文化，以标榜自己的特立独行。然而笑点在于，这个走“小众”路线的群体因为人数众多而渐渐变得大众起来。Hipters对咖啡情有独钟，当然了，绝不是星巴克的咖啡。_x000D_ _x000D_ We’ll talk to Ben, a professional barista who sharpened his craft in Philadelphia, U.S.A., and brought it back to Shanghai. This is the first time we’re having a natural born Chinese person hosting an SPClub. It will all be done English with Chinese translation if you need it. Ben brings a unique combination of American, Chinese, hipster and coffee culture that we just had to do a SPClub about.Ben在美国费城练就了一手拉花绝活。他无疑是中西文化碰撞下，最能把咖啡和嬉皮士文化讲得头头是道的人。本次club是我们有史以来第一次请到土生土长的中国人作为嘉宾。活动全程英文，如果有需要我们也可以进行现场翻译。_x000D_ After a detailed presentation and discussion about what it means to be a barista (much harder than most people think), hipster culture and latte art skills, each participant will get five goes at the machine making their own latte art. We’ll learn about how to make the milk perfect, like white paint, how to control your wrist, your pour and height.
