Description
▼Why does life sometimes feel like it's constant...
Why does life sometimes feel like it's constantly accelerating? We want to build careers, relationships, friendships, experiences and futures, often while feeling that everyone around us is moving just as quickly. But is faster actually better? When does speed create excitement, progress and opportunity, and when do we move so quickly that we stop noticing where we're going? Join Edward, a geological engineer and motorsport enthusiast, live from Manchester, for a discussion about the different speeds at which we move through life, using the extraordinary world of motorsport as an unexpected backdrop.
From Formula 1 and MotoGP to the Isle of Man TT, we'll look at people and machines built to move fast and use them to think about something much closer to home: our own relationship with speed. Why are humans so attracted to going faster? Do different stages of life require different speeds? When should we push harder, and when is slowing down actually the smarter move? You absolutely don't need to know (or care!) about motorsport to join; Edward will introduce the stories and examples you need as we go. Come ready to talk about careers, relationships, ageing, ambition and the pressure to keep moving forward, and perhaps reconsider whether the fastest route through life is always the best one.
