What happens when justice fails? And when someone turns to art to tell the truth the system refused to hear? Can a film do what a courtroom wouldn’t? In this powerful and emotionally charged Watch & Talk, we’ll view selected scenes from Black Box Diaries, a recent Japanese documentary made by journalist Shiori Itō, who was raped by a powerful man in Japan and then denied justice when the police refused to investigate. She turned her camera on the legal system, the silence, and the resistance she faced, and in doing so, created a deeply personal and courageous act of storytelling._x000D_

Hosted by Leon, a psychologist and lifelong lover of film, this session will explore the role of art in confronting injustice, breaking silence, and creating space for truth when official channels fail. Together, we’ll talk about how stories like this resonate far beyond one country, and how they raise questions about gender, power, trauma, and the systems we live in. Leon will help us reflect not just as viewers, but as fellow human beings, how we relate to stories of pain, courage, and the desire for change._x000D_

And, of course, let’s have a deep, brave, and intelligent discussion about our mutual cinematic journey._x000D_
