In this Watch & Talk, we’ll watch selected scenes from Black Swan, one of the most beautiful, disturbing and culturally influential films of the 21st century, and explore the thin line between ambition and obsession. Through Nina’s relentless pursuit of the perfect performance, we’ll discuss pressure, competition, control, identity and the strange psychology of never feeling “good enough”, even when everyone else thinks you’re brilliant.

The session will be hosted by ICEX, an award-winning sound designer, dancer and filmmaker, bringing a unique perspective to a movie where movement, music, sound and visual storytelling are inseparable from its psychological depth. We’ll look closely at some of Black Swan’s most powerful, and painful, moments, but the conversation will go far beyond the film: Is perfectionism actually a strength? Why are perfectionists often their own harshest critics? Can you pursue excellence without destroying your ability to enjoy it? Expect a smart, lively and sometimes darkly fun conversation about success, self-worth and what happens when the person demanding the impossible from you is you.
