What if our whole world were just a big game? What if you gamified reality? Games pull us in so easily, and their mechanics shape so much of our everyday life; they're addictive. So what if we used game logic to make aspects of our routine life, or the life that we want, addictive?
Why do progress bars, points, streaks, levels, and “winning” feel so motivating, whether you’re playing a game, using an app, or chasing a personal goal? In this Watch & Talk session, we’ll watch a TED Talk that explores the idea of gamification and ask a deceptively simple question: if our world already works like a game, how consciously are we playing it?
Hosted by Leslie, this discussion looks at how gamifying reality shows up in work, habits, productivity, learning, and even relationships. Together, we’ll identify the techniques that make games so engaging and unpack how those same structures have been integrated into normal life, sometimes to motivate us, sometimes to trap us, and sometimes to completely change how we define success. Expect a conversation that’s fun, sharp, and surprisingly deep, where playful ideas lead to serious insights about agency, motivation, and how small design choices can quietly reshape the way we live.
