Before Bruce Lee made it famous in the West, Lao Tzu 老子, founder of the Dao De Jing, and Daoism, once said for us to "Be Like Water".
Water is formless. It's adaptable. It can become whatever it needs to suit the situation. When cold, it turns to ice. When heated, to vapour. But what does it mean for humans to be formless? To be like water? Can you do it? Would you? Have you ever?
A formless mind is capable of endless, expansive growth. A child is a great example of formlessness. Its mind is still fresh, unjaded, and unconditioned by the world. Nothing but potential lies in front of it, and it does nothing but learn all day.
But as many children grow older, their minds tend to calcify, they become more rigid, and they stop learning. Have you seen this? Has it happened to you in any way? Can we, as adults, bring back that formless mind and again be like water? Flow on over to Popcorn to find out!
