Is Egypt all pyramids and deserts with camels as the main mode of transportation? Is Paris the land of romance? Or of thieves preying on Chinese tourists? _x000D_ _x000D_ _x000D_ In this club, we'll look at how those who have never been to certain countries see those countries. We'll discuss our own preconceived notions of different places and talk about how the media has or hasn't shaped them. Everything from movies, TV, TikTok, news and even social media posts influences our perception of the outside world and theirs of us. How accurate are those perceptions? _x000D_ _x000D_ _x000D_ How does the media shape information and interpretation? How does the media impact people's biases and opinions? What's the media's role in social movements that drive change (for better or for worse)?_x000D_ _x000D_ _x000D_ And the most important question of all: How good is your media literacy? How adept are you at critically assessing what the media says? This skill is becoming more important by the day.
