▼Why do some movie characters stay with us for y...
Why do some movie characters stay with us for years, while others disappear the moment the credits roll? What makes a villain unforgettable, a hero compelling, or an anti-hero strangely relatable? And if you were to invent a character today, would they surprise you… Or reveal something about you?
In this workshop, you’ll learn the core Hollywood tools for building an interesting character, not in a dry, technical way, but in a practical, creative, and immediately usable way. We’ll look at well-known film characters and unpack what makes them dynamic or static, layered or flat, driven or forgettable. Then you’ll design your own character from scratch: backstory, flaws, fears, quirks, desires, and goals. Maybe you’ll create a villain. Maybe a hero. Maybe something in between. And maybe, as often happens in the creative process, your character will change as you write them. This isn’t just for aspiring screenwriters. It’s for anyone who wants to think more sharply about motivation, personality, psychology, and storytelling, and unlock both the creative and logical parts of the mind at the same time.
