描述
▼How does a piece of Canadian meat actually end ...
How does a piece of Canadian meat actually end up on a plate in a Shanghai restaurant? The journey is far more complicated than putting it on a ship and sending it across the Pacific. In this interactive workshop and discussion hosted by Emile, a professional in the meat export industry, you’ll step inside the surprisingly complex world of international food trade. Participants will become exporters, importers, restaurant buyers, government representatives and other players in the supply chain, working together — and sometimes against each other — to get a shipment from producer to customer. Along the way, you’ll negotiate prices, responsibilities and risks while learning how approvals, shipping, customs, tariffs, importers and buyers actually fit together in the real world.
And, just like in the real world, things will change unexpectedly. Perhaps a new tariff appears, customs challenges the shipment or an unexpected import restriction threatens everything. Who absorbs the extra cost? Do you renegotiate? Find a lawful alternative or walk away completely? Drawing on Emile’s real-world industry experience, you’ll problem-solve your way through the crisis before coming back together to examine which strategies worked, which decisions backfired, and whether your steak ever actually made it to Shanghai. Expect negotiation, persuasion, disagreement and compromise, mixed with fascinating insights into a global business most of us encounter every day without ever thinking about how it works.
