▼What does it actually take for two people to re...
What does it actually take for two people to really connect? Is it chemistry, curiosity, vulnerability, timing — or simply having enough time and courage to stop performing and let another person see who you are? Let's join Clayton for a Watch & Talk exploring selected scenes from Before Sunrise, the beloved 1995 film about two strangers who meet on a train and decide to spend one night walking through Vienna together. Over the years, the film has achieved cult status, particularly among people who love romance that feels observed rather than manufactured: there are no grand villains or elaborate plot twists, just two people walking, talking, flirting, disagreeing, revealing themselves and gradually becoming important to one another.
Clayton was so affected by Before Sunrise that when he decided to host his first Watch & Talk, this was the film he wanted to share. Together, we’ll use its funny, awkward, intimate and beautifully ordinary moments to ask what creates genuine human connection. Why do we sometimes tell a near-stranger things we wouldn’t tell people we’ve known for years? How important is asking the right question? And actually listening to the answer? Can deep connection happen in a few hours, or do we only believe it can because movies make it beautiful? You don’t need to have seen the film, and this isn’t only a discussion about romantic love. It’s about that rare experience of meeting another human being and somehow moving beyond small talk into something real, and what Before Sunrise might teach us about making a little more room for that in our own lives.
