数统计数据是瞎扯淡</a>\nDid you know that 80% of all statistics a
re actually incorrect and misleading? Is that statistic one of them? When
you read about a statistic\, how can you know if it's correct or not? _x00
0D_ _x000D_ The truth is that stats (statistics) are one of the most power
ful tools in convincing people. If someone quotes a stat\, our first react
ion is often to believe it because it sounds impressive. The other truth i
s that stats are often purposefully misleading and used to prove a conclus
ion rather than to find the truth. _x000D_ _x000D_ For example\, if someon
e tells you that 70% of Chinese married women are unhappy in their marriag
e\, what does that mean? Which women did they ask? What cities are they in
? What are their social/economic classes? How many did they ask? How do th
ey define "unhappy"? Even if the stat is true\, there's so much beneath ev
ery statistic that needs to be checked._x000D_ _x000D_ How many stats do y
ou just instantly believe and base your decisions on while they're actuall
 y completely wrong?_x000D_ _x000D_ In this club\, we'll look at different
stats and we'll think critically about them. Do they make sense? Why? What
other info can we find? How do we find that info?_x000D_ _x000D_ Let's ha
ve an eye-opening discussion and a wonderful exercise in critical thinking
