DESCRIPTION:<a href="http://popcornclubshanghai.com/event/pets-can-they-be-
considered-family-41784/register">Pets: Can They Be Considered Family?
宠物:它们能被视为家人吗？</a>\nHow would you describe the rela
tionship between your pet and yourself? If you don’t have a pet yet\, wo
uld you consider having one? Why or why not? What about the relationship b
etween people and pets? Has it changed in the last few decades? Is it diff
erent in China versus other places? Can the way individuals or societies a
s a whole view and treat pets affect our general well-being and how we tre
at each other?_x000D_ _x000D_ Is our relationship with a pet a simple one
or a complex one? According to the dictionary\, pets are described as dome
sticated animals kept for pleasure rather than utility. In many cases\, pe
ts do bring much joy and pleasure to our lives and family. However\, the e
motional experience with pets often feels far more complicated and vibrant
than ownership. For example\, have you ever been mad at your pets? Have y
ou ever noticed your pets getting mad at you? _x000D_ _x000D_ In modern so
ciology\, various kinds of intimate relationships are being explored which
gives much more liberty in family definitions and formulations. Rather th
an ‘it’\, it is more common to use he/she when referring to a pet in W
estern culture nowadays. Social phenomenons such as the promotion of anti-
animal testing and anti-animal performance\, and the creation of animal-fr
iendly spaces\, not only protect animal rights but also tell us a new way
 of viewing the human-nature relationship._x000D_ _x000D_ In this workshop\
, you are encouraged to share your life stories with animals. Let’s crea
te a safe and free zone for each other to talk about our perspectives\, on
going social events\, painful memories\, and possible worries on this very
