DESCRIPTION:<a href="http://popcornclubshanghai.com/event/roles-people-play

At Parties: Analysing Social Performance</a>\nEvery social gathering has
its characters. The storyteller holding court with a crowd. The connector
introducing strangers to each other. The observer quietly taking everythin
 g in. The comedian\, the flirt\, the intellectual\, the host\, the wallflo
wer. Whether we realise it or not\, most of us play different roles in dif
ferent social situations. But where do these roles come from? How much of
them are authentic\, and how much are performances designed to help us nav
igate complex social environments? Join us for a fascinating discussion on
the psychology of social performance and the hidden dynamics of parties.
We'll explore the roles people adopt\, the needs and motivations behind th
em\, and what these behaviours reveal about human nature. Along the way\,
we'll examine why parties can be some of the most socially challenging sit
uations we encounter\, why people can sometimes feel lonely in a crowded r
 oom\, and how status\, belonging\, confidence\, and insecurity shape our i
nteractions. Most importantly\, we'll see if we can recognise ourselves\,
and the people we know\, in the patterns we discover.
