DESCRIPTION:<a href="http://popcornclubshanghai.com/event/the-evolutionary-
 psychology-of-feminism-45670/register">The Evolutionary Psychology Of Femi
nism</a>\nIn this club\, we'll look at feminism from an evolutionary psych
ology point of view. Why did human societies develop the gender roles they
did? How much of the relationship between men and women is shaped by biol
ogy\, culture\, environment\, or some combination of all three? And when v
iewed through the lens of evolutionary psychology\, what exactly is femini
 sm? Join Leon\, a psychologist\, for a thoughtful and open-minded discussi
on exploring one of the most influential social movements in modern histor
y through the much longer story of human evolution. No background in psych
ology\, feminism\, or evolutionary theory is required—just curiosity and
a willingness to explore different perspectives. Together\, we'll examine
how gender relations may have evolved throughout human history\, why femi
nist movements emerged when they did\, and whether they represent a natura
l adaptation to changing societies\, a challenge to older evolutionary pat
terns\, or something else entirely. We'll discuss how feminism has affecte
d different groups of people\, the benefits and criticisms associated with
it\, and whether ideas resembling feminism may have appeared far more oft
en throughout human history than we commonly assume. Rather than debating
slogans or political identities\, we'll focus on evidence\, ideas\, and qu
estions\, creating a space where participants can think critically\, chall
enge assumptions\, and engage in a respectful conversation about one of th
e most important topics shaping modern life.
