DESCRIPTION:<a href="http://popcornclubshanghai.com/event/debate-skills-log
 ical-fallacies-idioms-common-pitfalls-45867/register">Debate Skills: Logic
al Fallacies\, Idioms & Common Pitfalls</a>\nEver realised halfway through
an argument that something the other person said sounds convincing\, but
doesn’t actually make sense? Or found yourself being pulled into defendi
ng a point you never made in the first place? In this practical workshop h
osted by Clayton\, an award-winning debate coach and debater\, you’ll le
arn to recognise the tricks\, traps and mistakes that can derail an argume
nt. You’ll explore common logical fallacies\, learn how to identify and
counter them without falling for them yourself\, unpack useful idioms and
expressions that appear in real debates\, and discover some of the classic
pitfalls that even confident speakers walk straight into. Then you’ll p
ut what you learn into practice through exercises\, challenges and debate.
These aren’t skills that only matter when you’re standing in a formal
debate. They can give you an immediate edge whenever someone is trying to
  persuade you\, in a meeting\, negotiation\, disagreement\, sales pitch\,
online argument or even a conversation with friends. You’ll practice sep
arating a strong argument from one that merely sounds strong\, responding
without losing focus\, and noticing when emotion\, language or faulty logi
c is pulling your thinking in the wrong direction. Expect a smart\, intera
ctive and surprisingly fun workout for your brain that will help you argue
more effectively\, think more clearly and become much harder to manipulat
