DESCRIPTION:<a href="http://popcornclubshanghai.com/event/disagree-personal
 -freedom-how-much-is-too-much-45885/register">DisAgree: Personal Freedom -
How Much Is Too Much?</a>\nIf you’re an adult and the only person you
’re putting at risk is yourself\, should anyone have the right to stop y
ou? Should motorcycle helmets be a personal choice? Should governments be
allowed to ban extremely unhealthy products? And should employers have any
say over what you do in your private life? Let's debate! Personal Freedom
sounds like a simple principle until one person’s freedom collides with
safety\, responsibility or the interests of everyone else. In this debate
hosted by Davie\, we’ll tackle provocative real-world dilemmas and ask
where individual choice should end\, and who\, if anyone\, should get to d
raw that line. There are no winners or losers in these debates\, and no pr
evious debate experience is needed. Everybody will speak\, argue different
positions and receive useful\, supportive feedback from Davie along the w
ay. Rather than practising formal academic debate\, we’ll work on the sk
ills that make you persuasive in real life: listening actively\, understan
ding the other side\, responding directly\, thinking logically\, staying f
ocused and making your point with clarity\, empathy and\, when necessary\,
a little drama. Expect disagreement\, difficult choices\, plenty of laugh
s and perhaps a few moments when you find yourself passionately defending
a freedom you never realised mattered to you.
