DESCRIPTION:<a href="http://popcornclubshanghai.com/event/nice-guys-finish-
 last-how-to-stop-being-nice-without-being-rude-45890/register">Nice Guys F
inish Last: How To Stop Being Nice Without Being Rude</a>\nDo nice guys re
ally finish last? Or have we confused being nice with being passive? We’
re often taught to be agreeable\, avoid conflict and make other people com
fortable\, yet some of the most successful people seem remarkably comforta
ble saying no\, disappointing others and putting their own priorities firs
 t. Does getting ahead require becoming colder and less emotional? Or is th
ere a way to be kind without becoming a pushover? In this discussion and w
 orkshop\, we’ll examine the difference between kindness\, people-pleasin
g and assertiveness\, and ask whether being “too nice” can sometimes h
old us back in our careers\, relationships and everyday lives. We’ll als
o make it practical. What should you accept from other people? And what sh
ouldn’t you? How do you set a boundary without sounding aggressive? How
do you disagree\, refuse a request or stand up for yourself while still tr
eating the other person with respect? Through discussion\, real-life situa
tions and communication practice\, we’ll experiment with ways to be more
direct and confident without swinging from one extreme to the other. You
don’t need to become ruthless to make something of your life\, but perha
ps you do need to become more comfortable with the fact that being a good
person and keeping everyone happy are not the same thing. Expect plenty of
opinions\, relatable situations\, useful language and a chance to practis
e finding that sweet spot between too nice and unnecessarily rude.
