DESCRIPTION:<a href="http://popcornclubshanghai.com/event/disagree-privacy-
in-the-modern-world-45952/register">DisAgree: Privacy In The Modern World<
/a>\nHow much privacy are you willing to give up for safety\, convenience
or trust? Should parents be allowed to track their teenagers without telli
ng them? Should governments be able to access private messages when invest
igating serious crimes? And should your partner know the password to your
 phone? Let's debate! In tonight's debate session\, we'll look at privacy i
n the modern world. Davie will lead us through the increasingly blurry bou
ndaries between our private lives and the people\, companies and instituti
ons that want access to them. You’ll take different sides\, challenge yo
ur own assumptions and wrestle with situations where both “I have a righ
t to privacy” and “but what if...?” can be surprisingly convincing.
This is Davie’s “street smart” style of debate: there are no winners
or losers and no need to know formal academic debate techniques. Everybod
y will speak and receive supportive feedback throughout as you practice th
e skills that make arguments work in the real world: logic\, active listen
ing\, empathy\, reading the room\, staying focused and using a little thea
tricality when it helps your point land. You may find yourself defending a
position you never expected to defend\, changing your mind halfway throug
h\, or discovering that the strongest argument isn’t always the loudest
one. No debate experience or prior knowledge is necessary\, and all levels
  are welcome.
