DESCRIPTION:<a href="http://popcornclubshanghai.com/event/how-to-optimise-c
 ognitive-performance-discussion-activities-46008/register">How To Optimise
  Cognitive Performance: Discussion & Activities</a>\nIn this club\, you'll
better understand how your brain learns\, and you'll use that to your adv
antage. Why is learning something new so mentally demanding? And why can a
task you normally handle easily feel impossible when you’re stressed? W
hat helps us think clearly\, remember more and stay engaged with a challen
ge? Join Anton\, a critical-thinking coach and cognitive trainer\, for an
interactive exploration of cognitive performance. We’ll discuss how diff
erent parts of the brain work together\, question familiar “left-brained
versus right-brained” labels\, and explore the relationship between str
ess\, attention and learning. You’ll discover useful ways to think about
the effort behind building a skill—and how to make that effort more man
ageable. Through discussion and two games with different levels of challen
ge\, we’ll experience what happens when a task feels too easy\, too diff
icult or demanding enough to keep us engaged. We’ll explore the idea of
an optimal learning zone\, discuss how movement can support memory\, and c
onsider ways to apply these ideas to work and skill-building. No science k
nowledge or particular ability is necessary: the activities are opportunit
ies to experiment\, notice your responses and learn together. Expect a tho
ughtful\, practical session that gives you a clearer understanding of how
you learn and new approaches to tackling things that don’t come easily.
