DESCRIPTION:<a href="http://popcornclubshanghai.com/event/disagree-money-we
 alth-distribution-46089/register">DisAgree: Money & Wealth Distribution</a
 >\nDavie’s debate clubs have no winners or losers\, just plenty of feedb
ack and a supportive environment. We practise thinking and speaking logica
lly\, persuasively and with empathy\, alongside active listening and under
standing the other side. Should everyone receive a basic income from the g
overnment\, whether they work or not? How many houses should one person be
allowed to own? And what would change if everyone’s income became publi
c information? Money shapes our choices\, opportunities and relationships\
, but the rules around it are far from universally agreed. When does rewar
ding success become protecting privilege? When does helping people become
limiting their freedom? These questions get especially interesting when we
imagine rules that apply to everyone\, including ourselves. Join Davie fo
 r a debate about Money & Wealth\, where we’ll build arguments\, challeng
e assumptions and explore the consequences of some bold proposals. You mig
ht find yourself defending an idea you normally oppose\, or discovering a
weakness in one you thought was obvious. No economics knowledge or debate
experience is needed: bring your curiosity\, your everyday experience and
a willingness to hear another perspective. We’ll practise making a clear
case in English\, responding thoughtfully and persuading people whose pri
orities may differ from our own.
