Great stories don't happen by accident. Whether you're writing a screenplay, building a brand, pitching an idea, or simply trying to communicate more effectively, understanding how stories work is one of the most valuable skills you can develop. In this intensive 8-week Screenwriting Training Camp, award-winning filmmaker Nicholas Z. Scott will guide you through the fundamental principles that underpin compelling storytelling. A former screenwriting, film, and film studies professor at NYU who has also taught at the Shanghai Vancouver Film School and the University of Michigan–Shanghai Jiao Tong University Joint Institute, Nicholas brings decades of professional and academic experience to the classroom. Two of his films have screened at the Cannes Film Festival, and his latest feature film has recently received the Dragon Seal for release in China.

Over six weeks of instruction and two weeks of workshops, you and a small group of participants will explore story structure, plot, character, genre, and the deeper mechanics that make audiences care about what happens next. The course is designed to be valuable for complete beginners, experienced writers looking to sharpen their craft, and anyone interested in becoming a more logical thinker, persuasive communicator, or effective storyteller. Previous versions of this camp have attracted screenwriters, marketing executives, entrepreneurs, and university students alike. Expect a rigorous, highly interactive learning experience that packs a tremendous amount of knowledge, discussion, analysis, and practical application into just 24 hours of instruction.

Participants who complete the program will receive an official certificate of completion.
